For the purposes of this demonstration, I have decided to go with the www.healthylivingnigeria.info
mentioned earlier. So, www.healthylivingnigeria.info has been purchased
with the hosting from www.swifthostplus.com/ .
I personally use and recommend www.swifthostplus.com/ and have found them to be
extremely reliable and easy to use. The following process should be similar even if you
use a different hosting provider.
Once you’ve registered your domain name for your blog, and have sorted out a
hosting account, follow the instructions below:
Now we are ready to install WordPress!
1. go to the control panel of your website yourdomainname.com/cpanel
2.So back on the main home page of the control panel, we will have to scroll down to
almost the bottom to find the wordpress button under the softaculus Apps Installer
3.Select WordPress from the list, a new page appears like this :
4.Select New Install. And fill the next page that opens with the below information:

2. Under the “chose
domain” Where it says ‘chose domain’ choose the domain you registered from the drop down box. You don’t need to enter anything in ‘ in directory.’
3. Under the “directory”
you will see “wp” i.e wordpress, leave
this too if you want to install it on the domain you register, but you already
have a website that you want to use wordpress in it, just cancel the “wp” and
put “blog”, in this case your website will look this www.yourdomain.com/blog instead of www.yourdomain.com.
4. Under the “database
name” leave it like that.
5. Under the database
settings you will see “Table Prefix” leave it like that.
6. Under the site settings, you will see “site name”, put your site name
there e.g SwifthostPlus
7. Under the “Description” put you site description there e.g No1
reliable cheap web hosting in Nigeria.
8. Under the description you will see “Enable Multisite (WPMU)”, don’t
tick this leave the way it is.
9. Under the “Admin Account” you should see “ Admin Username”, Admin
Password” and “Admin Email”.
Just input the username and the password you want plus the email you want to
use in the section provided. I suggest you create your own customize email from
your cpanel e.g info@yourdomain.com.

10. Below the install
icon you will see something like “Email
installation details” just type you local email there e.g your yahoo or
Gmail. Just input it there for wordpress
to send the installation details to your email.
11. After you have done the above just click on the Install Icon. And you will have something like this below.
Choose a new username and password, which you will use to log in and post
content on your blog.
In the base configuration, choose the name you will post as, email address, site
name, and description. In the site name and description, try to use some of those
keywords for SEO purposes. Then click on ‘Install WordPress.’
6.On the next screen click on ‘Finish Installation’ to complete the install of
Wordpress!
Check your installation worked correctly by going to your domain name. In my
case that’s http://www.owlcollectables.com You should see a page similar to the one
below:
That’s the very basics complete. You have set up a WordPress blog.
Congratulations! Now we need to customize it
As you can see the default theme is the standard WordPress one, it’s pretty boring! Now
we need to find a theme that we like…
Choosing a Theme
There are plenty of free WordPress themes on the internet. Here are a few resources:
http://www.themes.wordpress.net/
http://wordpressthemesbase.com/
http://www.themes2wp.com/
http://www.smashingmagazine.com
You can also do a search on Google for something a little more targeted. I typed “free owl
wordpress theme” into Google and found the perfect theme. Whichever them you choose,
make sure it supports Widgets – this is very important and you’ll see why later on.
So once you’ve found a theme you like, download it to a convenient place on your
computer (such as your desktop) and then upload it to your blog.
