With the arrival of the New Year 2013, there would be lots among us who would have started to make New Year resolutions for themselves. The New Year is always something which gives you hope and freshness and you tend to have new energies. It is a fact that each and every individual is different from the other and so are the new year resolutions but still there are a few common things among us all because of the same human nature. Listed below are the 10 best resolutions for the New Year 2013:

New Year’s Resolutions Explained …



Let’s Elaborate

Different people have different goals for 2013. The goals listed above are some ideas regarding the most common New Year’s resolutions floating around out there right now. Let’s talk about each goal a little bit.



1. Financial Freedom

It seems that almost everybody wishes they had more disposable income, less bills, and didn’t have to work so hard.

The question is, “How do we set these goals and achieve them?” Considering that the economy in most nations has not been great, many people are living with less income than they have in the past. Most financial planners and wealthy people will tell you that the first step toward financial freedom is ridding yourself of debt.

Set up a budget to put your extra income toward ridding yourself of debt.

When the debt is gone, the next step is to set up a savings plan. Use the money that you had been putting toward paying off your debt, and save it. It is wise to have at least 6 months worth of income saved in case of a job loss or some other unforeseen problem.

Follow that step with setting up a plan to let your money work for you. Residual income, whether it is through investments, residual sales, or some other form of self sustaining income, is the way to make money without having to trade time or skill for money.



2. Lose Weight/Maintain a Healthy Weight

Almost everybody has at least a few extra pounds they would like to shed after the New Year. Almost everybody knows how to do this also.

It just takes finding a plan you enjoy and sticking to it to reach this goal. The equation is simple: Calories burned – calories consumed = weight lost or gained.

If you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

If you burn more calories than you eat, you will loose weight. If the calories consumed equal the calories burned, you will maintain your weight. The best way to obtain this goal is to follow a diet that is rich in healthy, natural, unprocessed foods; exercise regularly, reduce stress, and limit empty calories.



3. Get Regular Exercise

Again, this is a simple concept. It is important to move more everyday. Whether you walk more throughout your day, you make it to the gym regularly, or you participate in some active extra curricular activities, the more you move the healthier your body will be.

Regular exercise helps people shed extra pounds, maintain a healthy body weight, stay physically strong and fit, and it also helps maintain mental health.



4. Be Happy – Find Joy – Live in Bliss

This resolution can be a little bit trickier. Many people in this world seek to find happiness and joy. Most of the time, people like me hear, if only I had “this,” then I would be happy. If only I could do “that,” then I would be able to find joy. If only I could be just like “blank,” then I would be living in bliss.

Coming from a place where I can say I have been there, it is important for you to know that you can live a happy life filled with joy and bliss right now. Worldly things will not bring you joy and bliss.

That is something that is found internally. Living in the moment, right now, and finding the joy in your day to day life will go far in helping you manifest your blissful and perfect lifestyle.



5. Get and Stay Organized

Organization can make a huge difference in day to day life. Becoming and staying organized is a huge time saver in the long run. It also helps people to really know what needs to be accomplished each day. This leads to a more productive life. Greater production makes most people feel as if their life has meaning and they are accomplishing things.



6. Find True Love

I am sure most people have heard the phrase, “If you do not buy a lottery ticket you cannot win the lottery.” The same thing holds true with finding that perfect person to spend your life with.

If you are not actively participating in the search, chances are that perfect person is not going to pop out of the pavement and onto your doorstep. Figure out where the types of singles you are seeking are hanging out, and go there to get to know some new people.



7. Practice Charity – Help Others

I am one of those people who love to participate in the joy of giving. Giving brings happiness, bliss and a feeling of accomplishment. It brings great joy to most people to watch somebody open a special gift they have received. It is fun to experience the joy that is obtained through giving. Most people find this same joy by helping others or volunteering for something meaningful.

There are hundreds of opportunities available in almost every community to do a little something to give back and to contribute in a positive way to mankind. The key to being successful in meeting this goal is to find some activities and opportunities that you really enjoy and you look forward to participating in.



8. Find More Time to Spend with the People You Love

Almost everybody would like more time to spend with those special people. This is where prioritizing, staying organized and finding ways to produce residual income make a big difference. Each of these areas helps people to gain more free time to spend doing those things we love and enjoy.

Start simply by changing some of your free-time activities to incorporate doing things that can be done with the people you love.



For instance, if every Tuesday at 7pm you have to be home to watch a television show, but this same time period could be used to participate in family open gym night at you local community center, consider your priorities and make some changes.



Maybe you can record your show and watch it after the children are in bed. Maybe you can watch your show twice per month and spend the other two nights per month with your family at open gym.

Is it possible to give up your show and find more joy and bliss in spending active time with your family?

Most of us have much more free time than we are willing to admit. The true problem is the way in which we decide to spend the time. It is possible to open up time in even the busiest of schedules to incorporate activities that the people you would like to spend time with will enjoy.



9.  Quit Smoking

This can be a big one for smokers. Everybody knows that smoking can be detrimental to your health. This habit can lead to chronic disease and even death. However, many people are truly addicted and it can be almost impossible to stop. Consider using a smoking cessation tool. Consult your physician about options available to help you stop smoking.



10.  Practice Lifelong Learning

Keeping the mind active is a great way to maintain mental and spiritual health. If you are stuck in a rut in this department, find simple ways to increase your knowledge. Make sure you are reading information that you enjoy learning.  This does not mean that everybody needs to go back to school.

This can be as simple as reading more, finding a community education class you enjoy, or finding family activities that allow you to learn. Some ideas of family activities are family date nights at the library, a museum, a gallery, or a historical landmark.

As you can see, for each goal you are able to set, there is a way to achieve it.
